PhilSCAT highlights biogas technology at CLAARRDEC’s 1st FIESTA

Fulfilling PhilSCAT’s technology promotion component, the center showcased the biogas technology during the conduct of the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development Consortium’s (CLAARRDEC’s) first ever Farms and Industry Encounters through Science and Technology Agenda or FIESTA in a 4-day event held at the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) on September 26 to 29, 2017.

An opening program and ribbon cutting was held on September 26 where almost 300 individuals participated and top billed by Dr. Edwin Villar, deputy director of PCAARRD and Hon. Rommel C. Padilla, Nueva Ecija board member gracing the event together with Dr. Tereso A. Abella, CLSU president and Dr. Fe V. Porciuncula, vice president for Research, Extension and Training (RET).

Meanwhile, BFAR Regional Director Willy Cruz delivered the keynote message as representative of DA Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol.

Cruz as quoted in his message, “this fiesta plays a very important part in our research efforts here in Region III, this serves as a showcase of the technologies we created and developed to increase the productivity of our farmers and agri-entrepreneurs here in our region.”

The 4-day event was filled with different activities such as product and technology exhibits, Magsasakang Siyentista and FITS Day, Pangkat Kaunlaran Forum, AgriSikat Forum for the Youth, Techno Demo and Field Tour, AgriSarap cookfest and the 28th Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights.

The FIESTA employs technology diffusion strategies while typifying a festive atmosphere, capitalizing on technology transfer and commercialization of local agri-aqua products for every micro, small, and medium enterprises. PPBernal
